Empowering Tomorrow: GOAL at Philly School Symposium

On April 18, 2024, the Gay Officers Action League (GOAL) participated in a symposium organized by the Philadelphia School District. This event brought together middle and high school students to learn about various community organizations that support or provide services to the LGBTQIA+ community.

GOAL set up a table to engage with students, sharing information about our mission, work in the community, and the Danté M. Austin Memorial Scholarship. GOAL members also provided practical giveaways, including CPR masks and flashlights, which highlighted the importance of safety and preparedness.

Throughout the day, students interacted with GOAL members, asking questions and learning about the visibility of LGBTQIA+ professionals in public safety. These interactions helped students understand the diverse representation within public safety careers and the support available to the LGBTQIA+ community.
